Dr. Linda K. Hur
About Dr. Hur
Dr. Hur graduated from University of California, Berkeley, School of Optometry. She is Board Certified. She received her undergraduate degree in molecular biology in College of Letters and Science at UCB. After eight years living in Berkeley, Dr. Hur was pleased to return to Los Altos where she grew up. Dr. Hur worked in different optometric settings including, private, retail, and large medical establishments before joining Mountain View Optometry.
Awards and Recognitions
Dr. Hur still serves on the board of Santa Clara County Optometric Society, (SCCOS), having completed her two-year term as President in 2014. Dr. Hur is a member of the California Optometric Association and the American Optometric Association. The purpose of these three organizations is to ensure patients have access to their doctors and that patients receive continual quality eye care as science, technology and the delivery of health care continues to evolve. Dr. Hur also served as a board member of the Bay Area Optometric Council. She was awarded "Optometrist of the Year, 2006" by her peers, for her dedication to the profession of Optometry. She was also recognized as Young Optometrist of the Year by SCCOS in 1992. California Optometric Association awarded SCCOS "Society of the Year" in 2013 and "Society Project of the Year" two years in a row, projects that Dr. Hur directed which emphasized vision awareness in school-age children.
Activities and Involvement
In addition to general optometry, Dr. Hur enjoys contact lens challenges and children's vision. She participates as a clinical investigator for contact lens and solutions studies. Dr. Hur encourages young people to consider the profession of Optometry and speaks to students, grade school through high school about the eye and the career of optometry.
Dr. Hur and her husband, Dr. Jeff Calmere, love the outdoors. She has a passion for running and has completed five marathons thus far. She will hike far and wide, as long as she gets a hot shower at the end of the day. In addition, she and her husband are very dedicated to their ten nephews and nieces, and are Auntie and Uncle to many more. Dr. Hur is involved in her community and church.
